I can still remember at the ripe age of 7 (now 41!) I was given a Sega Master System 1 for Christmas. This included the classic game Double Dragon, which I still remember playing with my brother sat as close to the TV as possible! I then moved onto the Amiga and then my favourite of all time was the Super Nintendo... I was hooked! I have really fond memories of friends coming around to my house playing these games such as Street Fighter 2, Mario Kart and Speedball 2 - which back then were just mind blowing. We would sit for hours having so much fun... and I think I’m still unbeaten on Mario Kart !
As I grew up, I still used my SNES consoles every now and then just for nostalgia. About 8 years ago, I found a GameCube that a family member had and slowly, I started to collect Nintendo consoles. As I started to accumulate and find old consoles and games again, I started to have lots of doubles. To prevent them taking over my house I decided to sell some and started with a small stall at a local Comic Con for a weekend. It was so much fun and I didn't realise how many people were into retro games and what community we had on our doorstep here in Plymouth.
Whilst this was a hobby, I was working full time at a local college. I had been there for over 10 years but times were changing and redundancies where looming over us. I decided that I would leave my employment and try something totally different. I became a retro game seller and have taken my stall to many of the national level Comic Cons. Due to Covid-19, conventions have unfortunately been stopped, giving me time to finally set up my own permanent location to sell and trade retro games!
It's very new to me owning a store premises, but I thrive on sourcing and stocking rare games as well as much-loved family classics. I love speaking to people about gaming so even if you want to pop in for a chat then please do! I look forward to welcoming you into my store!
